Day 7 to Pescocostanzo
Today was really tough after yesterday’s efforts. It started with a spectacular descent in chilly temperatures which was fun, but lots of parts of my knackered body took it in turns to complain.
All the clothing layers then had to come off for a 30km climb from the valley to Passo San Leonardo in the Majella National Park.
As we climbed higher, the clouds got lower and we finished the climb in a cold drizzle. Fortunately lunch was inside but the post lunch descent was absolutely freezing, even wearing arm warmers, leg warmers, winter gloves and two jackets.
Rusty did his usual advance party arrival and helpful provision of information...!
More clothing faffing was then needed as the climbing started again and my poor legs screamed in protest. The scenery changed into woodland and then a pretty valley as we approached the village.
Of course there was one last hill to finish off the poor body - the arrival beer has rarely tasted so good!
