Day 6 to Santo Stefano di Sessanio
Possibly my best ever day on a bike!

Today was described as the hardest day of the trip and I was apprehensive this morning, but it turned out to be truly fabulous.

And take as many photos of animals as I could find (good excuse to catch my breath on all the climbs)

The route is part of the Giro d’Italia so there were stretches of proper tarmac making the descents almost acceptable. We are also in the middle of nowhere so hardly any mad motorists. The climbing went on and on but the scenery was just incredible, the photos describe the fabulousness better than words..

The final descent was properly chilly but the mountain village and the Palazzo we are staying in are lovely (I’m running out of superlatives!)
Dinner was yet more delicious carbohydrates hopefully fuelling another big day in the hills tomorrow.

I did my best to consume every carbohydrate I could possibly find during the course of the day.
